Your website may be top-notch and may have been designed in the most efficient way. But nonetheless, there is no harm in taking a re-look at it after a considerable period of time has elapsed.

With changes and developments happening on a daily basis all around, the designer has to keep himself on his toes constantly. One cannot afford to lose in the race for simple reasons such as an outdated website.

There could be more reasons than one of why a website may be in need of a redesign.

Based on Feedback
If your website is one of those that ask for customer / visitor feedback, make sure you make proper use of it. In other words, based on the feedback of the website visitors, your website could undergo massive changes. Depending on what is more comfortable and convenient for your visitors, you could redesign your website.

Failed Websites
For a website that has not really performed as per expectations, it could be time to gear up and make appropriate changes. One such change could be bringing about freshness in the website. Redesigning would be a great help in this direction.

SEO
Improving search engine rankings is one of the most important agenda of a website. If the way a website has been designed is not really working in favour of search engine optimisation, one may want to redesign the website.

Expansion
Sometimes, the company may be undergoing expansion or adding offices/branches to its portfolio; there could be mergers or acquisitions on the agenda. Any such event is reason enough for a company to redesign its website.

Poor Design
If the website has been poorly designed in the first place, the owner may want to have a re-look at it and maybe redesign the website with a new designer. Else, if the website was designed by an amateur initially, the owner may want to hire professional services after he has accumulated enough money.

Note:
However, when redesigning, do remember one thing; do not bring about changes that would annoy your regular visitors. Your regular visitors are used to your website functioning in a particular manner. If you take away their comfort from them, you may land yourself into big trouble. So the website needs to be redesigned with this covenant in mind.

Also ensure that any changes brought about by the redesign are effectively illustrated on the homepage.
