In this fiercely competitive world, every businessman or woman would do anything and everything possible to create and build up their image over the years. Image building is synonymous to the reputation of the business and hence assumes highest significance.
Along with activities undertaken towards image building, there are certain objects like the logo of the company which help immensely in creating an image of the company.
It follows thus that the designing of the logo is not something that can be taken lightly. Say a Macdonalds for example, is widely recognised by the logo of the company which is a simple M. But when you see that symbol, you know what it refers to.
Logos could be either in the form of text or in the form of symbols or alternatively, a right combination of both.
Text logos are those where you simply put into text, mostly the name of the company or its abbreviation or something. In symbolic logos, there may be a particular design that you think could be best identified with your company or the business and hence the logo.
When it comes to deciding the logo of the company or the business, there are certain pointers to be kept in mind.
Simplicity is the best policy as far as logo designs are concerned. Avoid any kind of complex designs and create logos that are easy to decipher and remember, as that is the reason behind the whole exercise.
As far as the colour scheme of the logo is concerned, elegance is what you need to stick to. There cannot be any flashiness or lack of soberness in the logo colours. The logo cannot be loud. The colour contrasts and colour combinations should be well thought of and tested before taking the logo live. You cannot afford to put off people with your logo.
The uniqueness of the logo is as important. The logo cannot be even remotely similar to any other in existence. Then and only then will it be able to create its own mark among the people.
Artistically, logos would be different depending on the target audience of the company. If the company in question is one catering to a women product, say shampoos or soaps or the like, the logo should be soft and gentle. Similarly in all other cases, the design should be well thought of keeping the target audience in mind.
